The Skills Bank, the Board Bank and Mentoring can be used by members of several major professional bodies to contribute towards their CPD requirements.
Law Society The Law Society has agreed that its members can claim up to 75% of their CPD requirement through the Board Bank. The boards of arts organisations and museums count as specialist committees or working parties, and as such the actual time spent at meetings of these boards can be claimed against the requirement.
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Participation in the above programmes could qualify as structured Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for members of the Institute, if the member judges that the benefits gained by his or her participation would fit within the Institute’s CPE guidelines.
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Members of CIMA need to record 30 hours of CPD per annum. CIMA has agreed that participation in the above programmes can contribute to this requirement.
Institute of Management Consultants Members of the IMC need to record 35 unit hours of CPD per year, of which 14 hours are structured and the remaining 21 unstructured. Participation in the professional development programmes could contribute to the unstructured learning requirement, which is counted as two hours of unstructured learning per unit hour of CPD.
Chartered Institute of Marketing Members of the CIM need to record 35 hours of CPD per annum. The CIM has agreed that participation in the above programmes can contribute to this requirement, whilst reserving the right to approve the categories under which the claim is made.
Chartered Institute of Banking Members of the CIB need to record at least 50 hours of CPD per annum. The CIB has agreed that participation in the above programmes could contribute up to 43 hours (86%) of the minimum requirement, under categories 4 (Imparting Knowledge), 6 (Meetings) and 7 (Committee Work), as long as the member judges that the benefits gained by his or her participation furthered his or her professionalism.
Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development IPD members participating in the above programmes may use this as part of their continuing professional development. However, members must be able to demonstrate the learning gained from attendance and their practical application of this learning in the workplace.
