Welcome to Business in the Arts:North West

Business in the Arts:North West exists to bring business skills and experience to the arts and museums in ways that are beneficial both to business and to the arts and museums.

Five strategies are designed to deliver this policy:

The Skills Bank encourages business men and women to offer their specialist skills and experience to managers in the cultural sector. Projects undertaken through the Skills Bank aim to develop arts managers’ skills and provide development opportunities to business managers.

The Board Bank programme introduces business people to cultural organisations as potential board members and ensures that they receive appropriate introductory training.  A Positive Action Board Bank targets Black (in the political sense) candidates.

The Mentoring Programme uses business mentors to help arts and museum managers develop to their full potential.

The Training Opportunities Initiative aims to provide free or low cost business training to the arts by encouraging businesses to provide places on relevant in house training courses to arts managers and by organising occasional courses run by private sector trainers.

BIA:NW uses its expertise to assist cultural organisations to develop effective board practice through the delivery of courses and bespoke whole board development.

Whether you are from a business, an arts organisation or a museum - if you would like more information please contact us.
